Derek

I was just thinking about the past and how much Derek and I have gone through... from being an off and on couple to getting married and having a baby. In the last almost 4 years since I met him we've had quite the ride. He amazes me everyday... the fact that when times get tough and he still keeps a smile on his face and his head up impresses me so much! I'm the type of person who sulks and will have a pity party... not Derek! He'll laugh about it and enjoy life to it's fullest. I wish I could be that way and in a way I'm learning how to do that. I'm so thankful that he's such a positive person! I love him so much and I'm so thankful for all of the things we've gone through cause it's only made us a stronger couple! I love him so much!

Today is Owen's 18 month birthday. For some reason this one is harder for me to take than his first birthday... odd I know! He's just such a kid now. He's been walking since he was 8 1/2 months old so he's not been a baby for a long time now. I just adore this little guy and can't get enough of him! He's talking more and more each day and makes life so much fun. Today he and I hooked my ipod up to our tv speakers and danced for a good 30 minutes... he just laughed and laughed and danced and danced! I hope that I remember times like these when we had so much fun together and his face was just lit up with the most amazing smile...

Unemployment here we come!

It's official! Derek is out of a job. He was laid off this morning. Hopefully he will find something soon so we don't get behind on bills and rent.

The future...

Derek came home and had news that a few of his co-workers got laid off today and he's pretty sure it's going to be him next. His name isn't on the board for work tomorrow and usually it is. He's going to go in and talk with the boss and see what's up... Hopefully he will have a job after tomorrow, but there's no telling. So, I'm trying to not get all stressed like I normally would, but just know that God is in control and he'll take care of us and he always does. I'll update tomorrow after I hear something.

My 26th Birthday!

Friday was my 26th Birthday... I had a great day! First thing was first and I headed to the gym for my workout, then right after I dropped off Owen with my sister so she could watch him while Steph took me to get my nails done for my birthday. I had a great time with Steph, just being mom's without kids haha! We got the manicures and headed to the mall. After our non-baby fun, I picked up Owen and met with Derek, my mom, Danielle, Josh, Lindsey and Travis at The Rock for dinner. The Rock is my absolute favorite pizza and of course you can't pass up a Bucket! ;] So, from there we went to my mom's to have cake and ice cream... then off to the Diamond Lounge! We weren't too happy when we realized that Friday nights were pretty boring at the DL... but we tried to make the best of it! I missed out on seeing Dannielle (her birthday was Friday too!) she went to the Yellabeak :( Anyways, I hope she had a lot of fun like I did! Here are a few shots from my little party!

S'mores anyone?!?!

So, I was watching the video on cbs.com about where the Survivor jury members go between tribal councils and they were making s'mores... it made me want some so bad! Although, they were using something that made me want them all the more! I'm so trying this on the next camping trip!

Changes...

So, I've been so blessed to be a stay at home mom for a good 10 out of the 18 months Owen has been here... I didn't work until he was 7 months and I got a part time job working evenings and weekends. After Derek starting getting paid for a prevailing wage job for a few months we agreed to have me stop working until that job was done. Well, without any warning (from Derek haha!) the prevailing wage job is done. So, now I'm frantically looking for a part time job! I'm trying to look at things light heartedly since money is super tight right now... but, I've put my application and resume to at least 10 different places and I've heard nothing. I'm going to be applying at Starbucks soon... hopefully that one pans out! My friend Amber works at one of the South Hill stores and loves it. The best part to me is the benefits for working at least 20 hours per week! Derek's job has an expensive health insurance policy and it'd be nice to take me off his and just pay for Owen. That'd save us money in the long run... I'm going to be praying for that one!

On a different note, tomorrow is my 26th birthday! I can't believe that I'm that close to 30... I remember when I was little thinking "I'll never graduate High School... it's just too far away!" haha! And here I am married, with a son and loving being in my "late 20's"! We're going to the Rock for my favorite pizza after everyone gets off work, then to my mom's for my favorite cake, Party Chip, with Butterfinger ice cream! YUM!!! After all that birthday fun, we're going to venture to the Diamond Lounge to dance it up for my birthday and my friends Dannielle and Wayne's birthdays too!

Well, I think I may start doing this "blog-thing" more often since I enjoy it ;] Gotta go though, Derek's almost home and I'm hungry!
